Revolution Ice Block

Always on the look out for the perfect venue, Eventors went to Revolution Deansgate Locks the other night to check out its facilities and we were very pleasantly surprised!

Invited by our friends SLAM PR, we went along to an exclusive event showcase for the Manchester business community and met the lovely John McDonald – the man behind the bars!  I can definitely say this venue is a serious contender for any corporate event. I particularly liked the sound of Vodka masterclasses, although I’m not sure how much I’d remember in the morning! Ha ha

Mixing Business with Pleasure
March 3, 2008

The old saying goes that you shouldn’t mix business with pleasure.

I disagree!

A good event should always combine the two and create a comfortable setting for your guests to network. And that’s exactly what Oldham-based Pearson Hinchliffe solicitors achieved at the official opening of its new Hollinwood office last Wednesday. Situated in the heart of the soon-to-be developed Hollinwood Business District, the event attracted the cream of the Oldham business community and leaders of the council.

The Pearson Hinchliffe event was different to your run of the mill event. They worked hard to create a fun, pleasurable evening – superb food, flowing drinks, excellent music and a short welcome from the Partners made sure the event which was a joy to attend. And what’s more, I have never seen so many exchanges of business cards!

So should you mix business with pleasure?

Most definitely!!

Oscars Dilemma
February 25, 2008

The awards season continues and after a lacklustre Baftas and booze-fuelled Brits, the biggest awards night was always going to be the Oscars now the writers’ strikes was (timely) over.

The biggest dilemma facing the red carpet celebs after what to wear is…where to be seen after.

But what makes a winning after-show party? A host’s essentials of course include:oscar.jpg

Copious amounts of champagne
Gong winning celebs
Party bags
Paparazzi galore

But you also need that little bit of magic, that something special to mark it out from the rest and grab the best stars.

The main party was the red-and-gold themed Governor’s Ball – which is always the official Oscars after-bash. It was held at the Kodak Theatre, which was decorated with 15,000 red roses and orchids. Sir Elton John’s Aids Charity Ball was at the Pacific Design Centre and is always a big hit. This year Christian Slater showed his moves whilst Sir Elton sang.

Vanity Fair’s Party is usually a good place to see and be seen but was cancelled due to the risk of the writers’ strike cancelling the ceremony itself and remained off.

Get the after-show party right and you are as big a hit as the winning best actor/ess. As a result Madonna hosted a post show bash and Prince also got in on the act inviting Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Will Smith.

Keep an eye on the gossip columns over the next 24 hours to see who got it right and attracted the most grinning white teeth and weeping starlets (Marion Cotillard took the honour this year) with Oscars in tow.
